Notes from a strong black woman
Growing up without a father in the home for a little girl causes a change of mental state. While we would love to be "Daddy's princess" we are left harboring dreams to be anybodies princess. You are our first teacher in trust of a man, provision from a man, emotional connection to a man. In your absence we learn not to trust, not to hope, not to love for fear it may all disappear. We learn that abuse is better than nothing at all and our self-worth, in our minds is tied to some man's every whim. Then God our Heavenly father steps in and picks up where you left off and teaches us to love and trust and forgive you in your absence.
